“An apple a day keeps the doctor away”.
Have you ever heard of this saying? It is not just apples, but eating all kinds of fruit provides you with many health benefits. People who eat more fruits and vegetables are most likely to reduce the risk of getting some chronic diseases.
Fruits are full of nutrients that are important to your health and body. Most fruits are low in fat, sodium and calories. They are the source of many vital nutrients, including potassium, vitamin C and fiber.
As part of a healthy diet, eating enough fruits and vegetables may reduce risk for heart disease, cancer and inflammation. According to a 2014 study, “Powerhouse” fruits and vegetables are those with high nutrient density and low calories such as Lemon, Strawberry, Orange and Grapefruit.
Lemons contain vitamin C and other antioxidants that are essential for human health. Strawberries provide a lot of dietary fiber and healthful vitamins and minerals. Oranges too are rich in vitamin C that acts as a powerful antioxidant, while grapefruits can help protect against some cancers, inflammation and obesity. All of these fruits are not only beneficial to our health, but also are juicy, tasty and easy to consume.
An apple a day may not keep the doctor away, but with enough fruits, it would surely do the trick!
