The family plays a major role in shaping the character of a person. Imagine a household with a violent father, what do you think will happen?
Do you think it will create a cycle of violence?
In the 2020 report done by Cambodia Centre for Human Rights (CCHR), one out of five women in Cambodia had suffered violence.
Chak Sopheap, executive director of CCHR calls us to “take concrete actions to promote women’s rights in society and implement measures to eliminate discrimination and use of violence against women in all forms.”
There is hope to break the cycle and it starts from our homes. We need to build a family full of love, care, and respect for one another, especially for women and children. Both home and school have shared responsibility to build a community free of violence. Let us protect the rights of every human being, especially women’s rights.
