
Food and water are essential to human survival because we cannot live without them. Some foods are more nutritious and beneficial than others. According to studies, there are four major food groups that we require to ensure our health and well-being.
The first major type is the protein group, which is found primarily in meat, seafood, poultry, and various seeds, nuts, beans, and soy products. These are essential protein food sources for your health and body’s maintenance because they function the growth and development in children, teenagers, and pregnant women.
Grain is the second major category. They include all kinds of grains from wheat, brown rice as well as ground oats. They contain carbohydrates, fiber, and some vitamins and minerals. If you consume these groups of whole grains enough, you can maintain your health and reduce risk of chronic disease to a certain extent.
Fruits and veggies are the third group to keep your health in check. They provide you with vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates and fiber. Indeed, when you consume enough amounts of fruits and vegetables, it reduces your risk of cancer and improves your heart and mental health. Overall, fruits and veggies maintain your health, protect vital organs of the body, assist weight management and promote your healthy skin and hair.
Last but not least, it is a dairy group which includes milk, yogurt, and cheese. Dairy products help to build and maintain bones and teeth health. To some extent, they may reduce the risk of osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and maintain blood pressure for adults.
All in all, these food groups listed above are equally beneficial to everyone. Each of them keeps our body well-functioning and in good condition. More importantly, all these foods prevent many risks of diseases and sickness. Thus, we are encouraged to include all these food groups in our daily meals.
