The skill of reading is obviously needed in a society where words are printed everywhere, but it is frequently overlooked. According to the United Nations statistical report in 2021, there are 584 million students who are unable to read. It’s one of the main reasons why having a library full of books for all students to be exposed to and discover their love of reading is so important. It’s because reading is one of the few hobbies that won’t waste your time because you’ll be gaining knowledge that you can apply in your daily life.=
Other platforms, such as the book fair, which offer hundreds of books offered by publishers and authors and also incorporate activities for kids to build creativity and fun ways of learning to read, are a nice way to reinforce the value of reading.
The CKS Library in Siem Reap hosted a mini-book fair. The book fair began at 7:00 a.m. and ended at 7:00 p.m. It featured publishers and libraries, as well as activities for children such as reading activities, arts and crafts, and face painting. There were also scheduled speakers. In the afternoon, honorable guest speakers included MJQE, Founder and Chairman Neak Oknha, and Dr. Mengly J. Quach, who spoke on the topic “Why read books?” It was a wonderful experience attended by students who are inspired and motivated by Dr. Mengly’s books and his shared concepts about reading and its impact on society. One of Dr. Mengly’s quotes about reading says it all. Read more, learn more, and ask more. Don’t take things as they are and as black and white. In life, the latter is hard to find.
