I watched you prepare breakfast.
You said it is the most important meal of the day.
I watched you sew buttons on my jacket.
You said it is always good to dress properly.
I watched you tuck my brothers in to sleep.
You said a peaceful rest is a must.
I watched you comfort your sisters.
You said it is never wrong to be kind.
I watched you danced the night away.
You said a little entertainment is good for the soul.
I watched you scold me when I get in trouble.
You said it is never wise to fall off the wagon.
I watched you cry as you draw your last breath.
This time you said nothing.
I pray you still watch over me
High above from the heavens.
Because a mother’s love runs deep
Ever flowing and never aging.
