Nine Phrases and Practices to Avoid in a Workplace

September 15, 2022Jobs and Business 11 Views

People in the workplace often talk about work, healthy living, life, business, movie star, company policies, or other department staff. Communication plays an important role in creating a smooth workflow and continuously motivates employees to work. Here are some of the phrases to avoid in a common workplace:

It is not my business. Working in a company is to work in unity. Using these phrases expresses a lack of cooperation, team spirit, and most of all lack of care for the overall work of the company. An employee seeking help should be given attention for the continuous progress of the whole company.

I don’t know.
Using these phrase stresses that you are ignorant and refuses to learn more. Instead of just saying these words, it would be better to say, “I’m not sure, but let me do more research” or “I do not know yet, but I will try to find out and get back to you.

My work is my priority.
Entering a company means you will be working on tasks related to your department or group but this does not mean that you will avoid people working in other positions. Sharing ideas and supporting individuals also helps the company achieve its goal in advance.

I am very busy.
Working people are busy people. Using these terms in a company could be misinterpreted that you mean, you are more diligent or work harder than them. Being honest and gentle by saying “Sorry, I have to do this job immediately after this I can help you” or “Sorry, please wait for me to finish my work” is a more ethical and professional conversation.

I don’t know how to do this work:
These words show your lack of desire to learn and train yourself. Distrust could also build up if people will keep on hearing this from an employee. If you do not know, you must learn to know, and if you are busy, you should not use the above phrase as an excuse.

Why do you always make a mistake? Ideally, the workplace promotes equality, collaboration, and teamwork. Instead of trying to recover, they wallow in their sadness and thus, experience more failure. Gentleness is often more effective at correcting mistakes, instead, we can say, “Well done, but be careful” or “Thank you for your efforts, but always check to avoid mistakes.”

I don’t care about anything:
A company can function and grow, it needs the support and cooperation of all employees. Participate in sharing, and saving the company’s resources on the use of various materials, and be able to help see the problems that occur and help solve and facilitate as much as possible.

Not my property:
Most employees generally think that the company’s assets are not their property, this is a negative idea or misconceptions and misunderstandings that are not acceptable. All employees must consider the company’s assets, personal assets, maintenance, use, and responsibility. The company’s sustainability can grow depending on the participation, maintenance, cleaning, and protection of all employees in the facilities and the environment of the company.

Gossiping Someone:
Gossip and rumors about work or personal matters from one employee to another, from one party to another may lead to miscommunications and inconsistent work. If there are personal issues that could not be delt with directly, it is best to find a third party to help mediate and solve problems.
