Many of us might have wondered what TOEFL is and why it is becoming a thing or a trend in Cambodia. If you are a student or a person in profession, you must have heard about TOEFL and its importance. However, if you have not, then let us find out together in this short clipping.
Let us all ask ourselves, what is TOEFL? TOEFL is an acronym that stands for (Test of English as a Foreign Language). It assesses your ability to both speak and comprehend English by evaluating your abilities in terms of reading, speaking, listening and writing. Typically, those who take TOEFL want to attend university or graduate school abroad, but ANYONE who needs to demonstrate a mastery of English for academic purposes can take TOEFL. This includes anyone applying for a foreign class admission, a job application, an exchange program, scholarships, a community college, or a student visa.
So, the big question is, why take TOEFL? First, TOEFL plays an important role for most students or professionals who dream of elevating their academic or professional standards or credentials. Second, being able to express yourself confidently in English opens up a world of possibilities. It’s like saying, “the more entries you send, the more chances of winning.” Third, it allows you to connect with more people than ever before in our modern age of technology. You will not be boxed in to a certain crowd, but instead you will be able to widen your network. Lastly, you will gain a better knowledge of academic English in which you are able to consistently add new words that will let you feel more at ease in an academic environment. Furthermore, it will allow you to showcase your English skills to admission officers and future employers at a specific point of time. By taking TOEFL, it will assist you in achieving these things mentioned above. You can take TOEFL test at the Aii Language Center since we are a certified testing center here in the country.
So, let me sum this up with my own experience taking the TOEFL test. TOEFL enhanced my confidence as an English educator and at the same time, an addition to my academic and professional credentials. Even though I am already working as an English educator, there are times when my brain just seems not to cooperate, like (brain farts). With the given opportunity of taking the TOEFL test at the Aii Language Center, I am able to bridge my past learning and improve further. I hope as you read this, you are able to contemplate and accept the challenge. I know it could be a bit daunting, but you will never know if you do not try. Never retreat without giving a fight. Never retreat without giving a fight.
