A girl with low English skills hoped to improve her English proficiency, but things turned out unexpectedly. She was highly dissatisfied with her slow-witted performance in class. “Why are my classmates so intelligent while I am not?” she pondered. Later, she felt the need to tell one of her teachers about her troubles. Her teacher then advised her to put in more efforts and not to be disheartened any longer.
The girl got more inspired after listening to her teacher’s advice. She did put in more effort. Every day, she went to the library to read and research. Before class started, she had read the textbook and completed all of the exercises; she read a lot and practiced a lot.
Two years ago, she successfully graduated from college with an honors degree in English.
What are the morals of this story?
1. Always put in your best effort
If you think you are not doing well enough yet, please do not give up. Rather, strive harder to achieve your goals. As Confucius said, “It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.”
2. Seek help
Do not keep a problem to yourself all the time. You can relieve stress and gain solutions by speaking to someone. You should keep in mind that there are some situations outside your control that require assistance or guidance from others, so don’t be afraid to seek help.
