Dangrek Mountains …Unforgettable

The book describes the second darkest period of Dr. Mengly J. Quach and his family’s lives while fleeing from the threats of Khmer Rouge and the fight between the soldiers of Kampuchea United Front for National Salvation (KUFNS) and Khmer Rouge. His family moved to Khmer-Thai border and temporarily stayed in Nong Chan Refugee Camp, located in Nong Chan village, Nong Chan Commune, Kork Soung District, Sa Kaeo Province of Thailand, in northern of Cambodia. A week later, unfortunately, on June 09, 1979, Thai solders took his family to Dangrek Mountains and forced them to return to Cambodia. Their action was completely opposite to their expectation to seek freedom and peace in another country.

Like many other Khmer refugees, his family was forced to climb down the steep and deadliest cliffs of Dangrek Mountains and walked through a field of landmines.
